Anonymous asked you:  What makes you draw birds?

I’m not sure. But birds are a measure of a place, don’t you think? If you cannot hear or see or know that birds are in a place it feels like you shouldn’t be there either.A few years ago I was awful troubled, and stayed inside for many moons.  I began finding my way to this wooden hut they built as a secret, I think. It had long flapping windows you would hook up and then mostly you sat there and watched all the birds live their flit frit lives. There was a notebook left there, for peoples to write about the birds they had seen. I didn’t write about any of the birds I saw because I was mostly ashamed and also because I didn’t want to think of other people in that wooden hut.Birds cannot let their faces tell us things, cannot reassure us or love us or make us love them. But they are the oldest and the most alive of all, really, and I suppose one day I might stop drawing birds but right now I cannot stop and also I do not want to.
